Hello everyone!
I’m participating in the Neat and Tangled Throwdown challenge- Crafting with compassion. This is a very special challenge and I made a floral card. You can read the story about the cause close to my heart following the pictures.
I stamped the background using images from ‘Friendly florals’ stamp set from Neat and Tangled in light grey ink. Then, using the ‘Scalloped’ dies, I die cut the panel. Adhered the coloured images, added some twine and the sentiment strip. The scalloped panel was adhered on the card base to finish the card.
Here are some close ups..
I hope you like the card.
Now, about the cause close to my heart..
As soon as I read what this challenge was about, there was only one person that came to my mind..my maternal grandfather. He suffered from Alzheimer’s disease for over 6 years and passed away. You can read more about it HERE. It was a heart-wrenching experience for all those close to him. This desease is very hard both on the affected and the caregivers. I remember how his health deteriorated…how the person who wouldn’t forget a single birthday or anniversary failed to recognise his family. It was very, very hard. It was like caring for a child..or even an infant. He passed away from a stroke. We all were devastated but at the same time thankful that he didn’t go through a lot of things that his doctor warned might happen as the disease progressed.
This disease is irreversible. There is no medication available to prevent it. Causes are not completely known. And it takes a lot of money to find proper care. I wish there were more places, in India, dedicated to the care of people suffering from this disease.
If I happen to win this challenge, I would love for the money to be donated to some Alzheimer’s disease caring centre. I can’t decide on a name yet but will keep researching to find a genine one that makes good use of the donation.
Thank you, Neat and Tangled. This challenge makes me love you more!
Hugs..
Sindhu.
