It is me again! Sorry for spaming your emails and feeds today! I have only a few more hours left to enter the MFT Card Design Superstar contest and wanted to do separate posts for all three cards.
This card that I’m gonna show is for the ‘Innovation Master’ category. It doesn’t have any fancy folds or interactive elements though.
Here is my card…
I am planning to give this card to my mom. I always look up to her and she never stops caring about me no matter how old I grow. The baby giraffe is eating stuff hand picked (read mouth picked! :D) by its mom. The mommy giraffe also dropped a pile of leaves for the baby to eat. 🙂
This cute scene of these two giraffes was a very spontaneous idea. I intended to have one giraffe eating leaves. But I instinctively stamped, coloured and fussy cut the baby giraffe too! And I knew exactly what I wanted to have on the card…
What is special about this card?
I wanted to create a scene where the mamma giraffe looks like it is plucking leaves from the tree tops and dropping them on the ground so that the baby could feed!
But the mamma giraffe’s head wasn’t looking up in the stamp set. So, i stamped the body of the big giraffe till the neck and then stamped the head of the little giraffe. I managed to achieve what i wanted!
But have you looked at the tree with enormous trunk? And the tree tops? Do you spy some clouds in there? 🙂 I didn’t have a tree die which I needed badly. So, I made my own tree.
I cut out free hand the trunk from Neenah Solar white 110lb cardstock and sponged dye inks on it. (I messed it up and had to flip it and colour it again!) Then, I die cut out puffy clouds and inked them in green and added to the tree.
Do you also see the clouds in the background? I made a template using the puffy cloud dies. And sponged some blue ink to make them look like leaf clusters on the trees.
Here are couple more close up shots ..
I hope you like the card… 🙂
